The ever increasing drilling depths required to reach the worlds oil reserves have resulted in demand for rig hoisting systems with much greater load handling capability. RCP’s EBC-9000 series of systems are specifically designed to provide control, battery backup and monitoring of electromagnetic brakes on oilfield drawworks.

The EBC-9100 Brake Control system provides the driller with the ability to vary the amount of applied braking torque and to control the drawworks speed at all hook loads. The EBB-9200 Battery Back-up system provides emergency power in the form of a bank of continuously charged batteries which apply full power to the brake in the event of a loss of AC. In addition, the system has been designed with an emergency stop function which applies full power to the brake at the push of a button.

The EBM-9300 Brake Monitor system continuously measures brake parameters to ensure that the brake, controls and battery back-up are working correctly and without faults which could compromise performance. If any significant fault is detected then the system can independently activate the EBB-9200 emergency stop function.

EBC-9000 systems can be built-up in modular fashion and packages can be customised in accordance with the end users specific requirements.
