One of the most critical safety requirements of an offshore drilling rig is that of reliable well control. Loss of the hydrostatic pressure advantage from the rig to the formation can lead to an influx of flammable gas and oil in to the well-bore which if left unchecked can have disastrous consequences. The RCP WCS-4000 system uses the latest dual-redundant PLC and HMI technology to integrate all control and monitoring functions of the BOP, Diverter and other well control components into a single integrated and easy to use package. The WCS-4000 features display pages for the BOP, Diverter, Drilling Chokes and Mud Gas Separator. Control sequences may be configured so that a single push-button command or alarm can automatically initiate a sequence of control actions.

The BOP Control page offers pushbutton control of BOP valves. Accumulator and manifold pressures are displayed and low and high alarms can be set. The Choke and MGS page offers pushbutton control of choke valves, and monitoring of pressures and temperatures at the choke manifold and mud-gas separator. The page also offers U-Tube/Dip-Tube seal integrity monitoring, with automatic “overboard dump” if required. The Diverter Control page offers pushbutton control of Diverter valves. Accumulator and manifold pressures are displayed and low and high alarms can be set.

The WCS-4000 is designed to seamlessly integrate with other RCP products such as the RMS-1000 Rig Monitoring System to provide a comprehensive control, monitoring & logging package.
