Position Monitoring System

The Position Monitoring System instantaneously display the distance between a platform and an approaching tender support rig or floatel. The equipment accurately measures the distance between two assets to a maximum range of 200m, with an acceptable error of less than 1m.

RCP employ a marine Radar system for this purpose, however, when the distance between the vessel and the platform reaches less than 10m, additional sensors are then utilised, affording greater accuracy. The system also monitors, and more importantly, logs data such as heave, roll and pitch of the vessel, compass bearing, wind speed and direction. This consolidates the system as a credible backup to an existing environmental monitoring system.

The data presented by the system continues to be critical in the decision making process while safely manoeuvring the tender support rig or floatel alongside the platform.
